All I can say is ‘wow, what a load of tripe’. I decided to watch this movie tonight as I wanted to see if it was politically charged as some have said. BTW, if you read anymore you will get spoilers. continue reading…

Cars

Jun 15

On Saturday 06/10/2006 I saw the movie Cars with some of the family. I thought it was a good movie. It was of course a movie for kids but it was fun to watch even as an adult that acts like a kid sometimes.

Depending on how much you like to nitpick movies that are based on comics depends on how much you will like this one. If I take it as someone that has read a ton of the comics growing up and knows not only most of the histories of each of the characters, but most of the story lines that went along with them over the past 30+ years or so of publication; then I do not have much good things to say about it. If I go in not knowing much of anything about the X-Men but from what the previous two movies and some rambling about who has what powers then I would enjoy the movie. It had some parts that pissed me off because of knowing too much about the storylines. But then I remembered that the first two were pretty good even without following the storylines much at all and gave the third one some slack. I know my wife enjoyed it moreso than I did because she just knows most of what I tell her regarding the characters and their history. She did not grow up in the Marvel Universe. If I did not then I think I would have enjoyed the movie better.

While I am not expecting much the trailer so far looks pretty good. I am sure that they will take some liberties with the concept but that seems to be the way things are done for movies. Click here to check out the trailer.

We went to see it today and it rocked. I enjoyed the movie a lot and it made me wish that the TV show would come back. I will not give any spoilers to it but will say it is worth the cost to see it. Lates

I was poking through the Internet Movie Database recently and came across a movie I saw in the 80′s. It is as the above title suggests, Return to Oz. It came out in 1985. I remember being slightly spooked as it was not the same type of movie as the 1939 Wizard of Oz. With characters like ‘Tik-Tok’, ‘Jack Pumpkinhead’, and some creepy characters like the ‘Wheelers’ made this movie rather neat. I would not go to watch it expecting it to be anything like the old movie with Judy Garland in it. It has a lot of aspects that are from the original stories of Oz. I found it on Amazon in DVD format and might pick it up one day soon.

A few weeks ago or so my wife and I went to see the movie Fantastic Four. While I know they deviated from certain specifics it was overall a decent movie. They made it look like it could happen and how the people reacted to them when they were found out was rather good. Anyway, I would see it again.

What can I say but ‘about freaking time’. While I cannot say it was the best one out of the six, it easily beats Episode one and two. One was too fake looking, and two was just bland for the most part. Three had the action, things looked more realistic, and no freaking Jar-Jar. Well, except for a cameo shot in which he does not say a damn thing. W00t!!! Of course Lucas could not write a good romantic scene to save anyone’s life including his own. All in all, it was worth seeing it on the big screen.

Where to begin… I for one plan to go see it soon after it comes out. I really hope that it is decent and not bile like “The Phantom Menace” and “Attack of the Clones” were. I do not care for the subtitle of this one either but “Revenge of the Sith” will hopefully be better. If the reviews are any indication of its quality then I will be a bit happier.

The movie will be coming out on April 29, 2005. I cannot wait. Some people I know will gripe that it will not be exactly like the book. Some of those same people do not know or realize that it had a radio and TV show that each varied a lot from the books. I am hoping it will be in a manner that would make Douglas Adams(The creator of HGTG) proud. If you did not know, he died on May 11, 2001. Here is to hoping that this movie will have sequels and it is not all the books crammed into one movie.

I went to the movies with my wife on Wednesday to see ‘National Treasure’. We actually walked away liking the movie. I would watch it again if it came up. As I am not one that is good at reviewing but I would recommend that you see it if you have some free time. When it comes to DVD I plan to purchase it.
